ABOUT These products are free-hand machine embroidered and made entirely by hand, using silks, suede and leather, and other natural fabrics. This makes every item unique and it avoids the exact reproduction created by commercial machine embroidery. This process adds to individuality and intrinsic value of the item and is inherent to the artisan production process. The range changes regularly with new styles, colours and embroideries being continually developed. The Handbags, unless otherwise stated, contain two small pockets, one being for lipstick. All handbags will include their own dust bag. As the products are made-to-order they can, within reason, be altered to suit individual needs. If you would like a certain shape from one range with embroidery from another, for example, then please ask. Cushions can be made in many shapes and sizes, and in a variety of colours. Accessories can be made to co-ordinate with the handbags. Handbags can also be produced without embroidery. In some cases lettering is used in the designs. This can be changed to suit individual needs and to add a personal touch to your purchase. Please note that the amount of lettering (including size and type) should be similar to that used on the original sample. Personal messages can also be given inside the handbags. These would be written in a single machine stitched line in handwriting. It seems to me that there are very few places and things that offer no inspiration whatsoever. I trained at Bretton Hall College of Leeds University, gaining a 1st Class Hons. Degree in Fashion and Textiles gaining the Arms Prize for the highest grade in the college. After spending a year teaching fashion in Milan I moved to London to work as a full time embroidery designer developing ideas and designs for mass-market production. This was followed by a few years designing and producing embroideries for smaller, more exclusive boutiques and collections. Now I work as an independent artist and designer dividing my time between travelling, painting and producing fine art embroidered pieces and related items. Using carefully chosen colours and fabric I wish to create elegant and unusual fashion accessories and home furnishings that, although quite different, complement one another. My inspiration comes from all sorts of things and places, usually ideas collected from my travels. A bird market in Asia, the beautifully decorated elegant front of a chocolate shop down the cobbled streets of Rome. My nudes are inspired by my love of life drawing, and my accessories and embroideries incorporating pictures of delicate shoes and brilliant chandeliers from my fascination with sparkle and light. I play with the idea of decadence. Things we would like but possibly wouldn’t need. Indulging in the delights of a chocolate cake, the heady smell of an expensive perfume, the thought of slipping ones feet into a beautifully crafted crystal-adorned evening shoes. I try to create pictures, rather than patterns upon the cushions using space and colour to create something balanced, yet unpredictable. The idea is to wear these pictures or throw art on sofas and chairs, rather than just hanging it on walls. My work is a mix of applique, machine embroidery, hand embroidery and then usually finished of with a smattering of beads or swarovski crystals. Occasionally there is an addition of a vintage trinket, something unusual to make the item truly original. As I find the design element of my work so enjoyable I am continually developing new designs and products so my range remains fresh and exciting.
